Well I am half way to cut day here in Daytona Beach, FL. I switched courses today and played what most people would consider the tougher of the two course, the Hills course. This may explain why our round took closer to five and a half hours today.
Today I had what we golfers call a "colorful" scorecard. My round included 1 double bogey, 5 bogeys, 5 birdies, and 7 pars. I got off to a rough start and finish today but I did a lot of really good things in the middle.
I was hitting the ball really quite well today for the most part but a few approach shots got away from me and I was left with tough chip shots. Fortunately when I did hit in close I was able to capitalize and make birdie. My putting from ten feet and in was overall really solid today.
I went straight to the range after I finished to work and get some things sorted out before tomorrow. Golf is the only sport I know of where once you're done competing you feel the need/desire to go practice more.
This week I am getting a little bit more of a sense for what it will be like to be a professional golfer (I am one of only a few amateurs here). Things really are a little different at this level. Both Anna and I are learning lots this week.
Tomorrow I will be back on the Jones course bright and early for my 8 am tee time. I will be re-paired based on my scores the last two days. (I am the only American again in my new pairing)
