"Recently Jen has made some exciting transitions, both in skill and in her role on the team. I am pleased about both of these things. As she continues to realize her importance, she has the ability to be a real power source for her crew. Although she is still new to rowing, she has shown signs of real potential. AT TENNESSEE:

FALL 2004: Opened her fall campaign by helping her shell to a third-place finish in the Championship Eight race at the Chattanooga Head Race...Also finished fourth at the regatta in the Championship Four...Teamed up with Kristin Galloway to finish fourth at the Head of the Tennessee in the Open 2-...

2003-04: Did not participate during the fall season...Was on the Freshman SEC Honor Roll...Participated on the Novice Eight crew that finished second in the Petite Final at the Lexus Sprints and third at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships...

HIGH SCHOOL:

Graduated from Douglas S. Freeman H.S. in 2003...Participated in the Beta Club, the Latin Club and the History Club while also being a member of the National Honor Society and playing in the school band...Was a three-year letterwinner in softball while also earning four basketball letters...She was captain two years for the basketball team and once for the softball squad...Helped the basketball team to district championships in 2002 and 2003...Was voted "most athletic" by her senior class...Earned the Most Valuable Pitcher award her junior year and Best Defensive Player Award her senior season...Was named to the all-district first-team two times...

Is pursuing a degree in psychology with a goal of becoming a sports psychologist after graduation...Has three siblings: Anna, 27; Matthew, 26; and Laura, 17...Jennifer Morgan Gerlach was born on April 7, 1985, in Richmond, Va....Her parents are Sue Sampson and Tennessee alumnus Erik Gerlach.
