OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee rowing team produced solid results and improvement during its final exhibition race of the 2014 spring season against Duke University.
In the first session on Melton Hill Lake the Big Orange took to the water in varsity fours to race the Blue Devils. The Lady Volunteers competed hard through all three pieces against Duke winning one of the three races.
Tennessee head coach Lisa Glenn was pleased with the team's performance, "We came away with a couple of impressive wins and much valuable race experience today," Glenn explained.
The novice team also took to the water and raced throughout the day against the Blue Devils.
In the second session in Oak Ridge, Tennessee showed their strength on the water in eights with three pieces. Tennessee prevailed in one of the three pieces.
Although the teams did not record times in the scrimmage, the Lady Volunteers performed well and are pleased heading into their regular season competitions beginning next week at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational on Melton Hill Lake.
"The team knows we need to take these experiences and grow from them while staying on track for our own progress at this point in the early season,' said Glenn.
