SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Tennessee women's Varsity 8+ shell, ranked 10th in the USRowing/CRCA Varsity 8+ Coaches Poll, finished sixth in the Grand Final of the Jessop-Whittier Cup at the San Diego Crew Classic on Sunday.
The Tennessee crew of Ashley Butturini (cox.), Kaitlin Bargreen, Lauren Wells, Rachel Mayberry, McKenzie Craig, Dana Forbes, Beth Schwartz, Andrea Bagwell and Sarah Hutcheson, completed the course in a time of 6:42.92. No. 8 California won the event with a time of 6:26.43, followed by No. 13 Stanford (6:33.76), No. 14 USC (6:37.42), UCLA (6:38.87), and No. 16 Washington State (6:40.95).
Meanwhile, the Lady Vols' Second Varsity 8+ finished second in the Petite Final of the Jackie Ann Stit Hungness Memorial Women's JV. The Orange and White crew of Jovanna Vick
(cox.), Christina Dobratz, Krista Gearing, Melissa DiCerbo, Kristen Galloway, Marissa Allen, Olivia Marnell, Stephanie Williams and Heather Hill, finished second in a time of 7:07.35, just
behind Oregon State (7:04.50). Notre Dame finished in third at 7:11.55, while Miami (7:12.53), Sacramento State (7:13.28) and K-State (7:16.28) would round out the heat.
