CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- Head Coach Lisa Glenn's Lady Vol rowing team wrapped up its fall season with a strong showing at the Rivanna Romp in Charlottesville, Va., on Sunday, Nov. 14. Tennessee claimed third-place honors in the Varsity 4+ and the Varsity 8+, while finishing fifth in the Varsity 2- and eighth in the Novice 8+.

"We did well from a team standpoint, as we posted improved results in the second and third Varsity Eight shells over last year's finishes," said Glenn. "Plus at the Head of the Charles, we finished 14 seconds back of the Virginia Varsity 8+, and today we finished just three seconds back. We still have some important work to do over the winter to be ready for the spring season."

In the day's premier race, the Varsity 8+, UT's crew of Molly Oellerich (cox), Kaitlin Bargreen, McKenzie Craig, Andrea Bagwell, Chelsea Pemberton, Dana Forbes, Beth Schwartz, Rachel Mayberry, and Lauren Wells clocked a third-place time of 13:55.2, finishing ahead of 24 other shells and just three seconds behind runner-up Virginia (13:52.2) and 13 seconds back of victorious Ohio State (13:42.7). Finishing in seventh place and completing the course in 14:40.9 was Tennessee's "B" shell comprised of Stephanie Davis (cox), Melissa DiCerbo, Sarah Hutcheson, Marissa Allen, Heather Hill, Marissa Mohan, Katie Payne, Nina Dobratz, and Krista Gearing. The "C" boat, powered by Jovanna Vick (cox), Stephanie Williams, Genevieve Collins, Jennifer Gerlach, Kristen Galloway, Brittany Hunley, Jacqueline DeVar, and Mary Jones, crossed the line in 15:06.3 and in 10th place. Last year, the Lady Vol's top shell finished third, while the "B"shell finished in 11th, and the "C" shell finished 17th.

UT also found success in the Varsity 4+ race, as Vick (cox), Bargreen, Craig, Mayberry, and Wells earned bronze medals with a 15:40.8 clocking, while the squad of Davis (cox), Schwartz, Bagwell, Gearing, and Forbes notched fifth place in 15:56.6. Oellerich (cox), DiCerbo, Pemberton, Dobratz, and Hutcheson teamed up to finish sixth (15:59.4). The Virginia entrant took home the gold, with a 15:25.3 finish, ahead of 16 entrants in the race.

The Lady Vols had three shells in the Varsity Pair event, and the tandem of Allen and Hill led the way with a fifth-place showing (17:31.1). Mohan and Payne completed the course in 18:14.5, good enough for eighth, and Teresa Good and Olivia Marnell finished in ninth place (18:17.1).

In Novice 8+ action, the Lady Vol crew of Angel Vogel (cox), Renee Brittle, Mary McKnight, Leah Smelser, Kathy Kirkpatrick, Kendra Warren, Lindsay Ehrlic, Christy Boner, and Danielle Bregar, finished eighth in 17:00.2. The novice shell comprise of Kelly Todd (cox), Madeline Merrill, Katie Stokes, Renee Cheverette, Shannon Rich, Sarah Moseley, Guila Geurrero, Courtney Montgomery, and Whitney Williams, finished the course in 18:25.8, a 12th place finish.

Sunday's regatta completes Tennessee's highly successful fall season. In addition to the strong showing at the Rivanna Romp, the Lady Vols amassed six gold medals in the fall and had the program's best-ever performance in the Championship 8+ race at the Head of the Charles, finishing tenth. Also at the worldly renowned regatta, the Club 8+ brought home second-place honors, which marked the fourth-consecutive year in which Coach Glenn's crew has finished in the top two in the race.

The spring season will get underway on March 12 when Notre Dame visits Knoxville. UT will also host races against Minnesota on March 19 and Louisville on March 26.
