CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Tennessee rowing concluded its fall season today by bringing home three medals at the Rivanna Romp in Charlottesville, Va., on Sunday.
Due to heavy fog, the Varisty 8+ event kicked off an hour late but the Lady Vols still produced solid results. Leading the way for Tennessee was the "A" shell of coxswain Katie Ross, Karoline Mikolajewski, Laura Miller, Kate Snider, Erika Johnson, Rachel Dooley, Hilary Epes, Libuse Bruncvikova and Jewell Ludwigsen. The crew finished third of 15 total boats with a time of 13:48.73. This is the third medal finish in four regattas for the "A" squad.
UT's "B" and "C" crews came in at seventh and eighth, respectively. With a time of 14:22.26, the "B" shell was made up of coxswain Rebecca Newman, Mary Beth Dreusike, Paula Coughlin, Melissa Toms, Lindsay Nelson, Kristin Coggin, Ruth Ann Johnson, Ashley Case and Samantha Sedgwick. The "C" shell, clocking in at 14:31.37, consisted of Danielle Woods, Danyelle Johnson, Radford, Marissa Bell, Erika Lauderdale, Daugherty, Kaelyn Gibson, Leslie Reynolds and Jennifer Bailey.
While the varsity was racing, the Novice Eights regatta was underway as well. The Lady Vols entered two shells in the six-boat field. The "A" boat finished fourth with a time of 15:38.59, and the "B" shell finished with a 16:20.91 time for a sixth place result.
After a short break, Tennessee broke out again for the Varsity Fours competition that consisted of 18 boats. Emily Krison, Dooley, Epes, Bruncvikova and Toms manned the "A" shell. The crew was on track for a better time but interference caused it to stop briefly for a 5th-place, 15:35.00 result.
The "B" shell of Ross, Dreusike, Ludwigsen and Snider clocked a 15:48.36 for a 6th-place finish. Rounding out UT's boats was the "C" shell of Sydney Newman, D. Johnson, Radford, Case and Sedgwick. Due to equipment problems the shell crossed the line at 16:49.25 to finish 17th.
,p>The final race of the day was the Varsity Pairs, where the Lady Volunteers entered two boats into competition, with the "A" shell taking gold and the "B" crew snagging the bronze.
