KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 16-ranked University of Tennessee Lady Vol rowing team will conclude the home portion of its dual meet schedule on Saturday as it hosts Conference USA foe Louisville on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
UT is looking to build on its solid outing last weekend against Minnesota. The Big Orange captured two victories against the Golden Gophers, including a win in the Varsity 8+ that featured a blistering time of 6:09.50 from the Lady Vols.
This marks the ninth time Tennessee and Louisville have faced off head-to-head, but the first since 2008. All-time, UT has recorded 27 victories against just 11 losses in its competitions with the Cardinals.
Saturday will also mark the final regular season home competition for Tennessee's five seniors: Marissa Bell, Rachel Dooley, Ruth Ann Johnson, Samantha Sedgwick and Melissa Toms. All five helped UT rowing reach new heights last season by capturing the Conference USA Championship. During their careers, Tennessee has earned two berths in the NCAA Championships with hopes of receiving a third this season.
Racing commences at 10 a.m. with the Novice 8+ competition. The Varsity 4+ race will go off at 10:20 a.m., followed immediately by the 2V8+ at 10:40 a.m. The final race of the day will be the Varsity 8+, scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
Results will be posted on Twitter as they become available. A complete recap will be posted shortly after competition on UTLadyVols.com
