KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 16-ranked Tennessee Lady Vol rowing team is back in action this weekend, traveling to Princeton, N.J. to face the second-ranked Princeton Tigers on Saturday.
UT hasn't been on the water since posting an impressive fourth place finish at the Lake Natoma Invitational two weekends ago. The Orange and White currently rank 16th in the CRCA/USRowing poll, their highest ranking of the season.
At Lake Natoma, Tennessee recorded two victories and had only one third-place finish. In the Saturday afternoon session, UT raced against eventual champion and No. 1-ranked California, finishing second to the Golden Bears in all three heats.
That experience should benefit the Big Orange, as it takes on yet another top-ranked team this weekend.
The racing will get underway at 11:15 a.m. ET on Saturday with a 2V4+ race. Following that, the two teams will compete in the V4+ at 11:30 a.m.
After fours finish, second eights will go off at 11:45 a.m. Tennessee is 6-2 in the 2V8+ this season, including a victory over Princeton's Ivy League foe, Dartmouth on Mar. 27.
The day will conclude with the V8+ race at noon.
This will be the first-ever head-to-head meeting between the two schools. Tennessee has competed on Lake Carnegie before, facing Yale and Princeton on April 19, 2008. UT earned second-place finishes in all four races that day.
This is Tennessee's final tune-up before competing in the Conference USA Rowing Championships on May 15-16 in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
