KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - For the second consecutive year, the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) selected Erin-Monique Shelton to its Pocock All-America second team.
The Upper Hutt, New Zealand, sophomore once again ranked as the youngest member of the Varsity 8+ crew. That shell finished third in the petite final at the national regatta, the second-highest finish in UT history. Shelton also contributed to the group's wins over Louisville, Stanford and Washington State during the regular season and a fourth-place showing in the Aramark Central/South Sprints grand final. That placing propelled the Orange and White to a third-place overall finish at the dual-regional meet.
Shelton, who also was a CRCA All-South Region first-team member and a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete, joins Chelsea Pemberton and Kaitlin Bargreen as multi-time rowing All-Americans at Tennessee. UT also had five of its athletes named to the CRCA All-South Region squads and six made the CRCA National Scholar-Athlete list.
Tennessee finished ninth in the country at the 2007 NCAA Rowing Championships, held on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn., over Memorial Day weekend.
