KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee rowing team will take to the water for the second time this fall rowing season for a head to head race against the Blue Devils of Duke University on Sunday in Bahama, North Carolina.
The Lady Vols had a very strong showing at their season opener in Chattanooga for the Chattanooga Head Race where they swept the two races the team participated in. The gold medal Tennessee "C" shell featured junior Rachel Whitaker and sophomore Katie King, the pair crossed the finish line in 19 minutes and 51.50 seconds. in the collegiate fours race the first place "C" shell coxed by senior Rachel Clagett, including Whitney Wolfe, Kahala Schneider, Katie King and Rachel Whitaker completed the course in 18 minutes and 33.77 seconds. Conference USA foe, the University of Alabama secured the second place slot with a time of 18 minutes 46.90 seconds.
This will be the first race of the fall racing season for the Blue Devils. Last season the rowing team at Duke placed third at the ACC Championships behind the University of Virginia and Clemson University and now sophomore Katie Dukovich was recognized as the ACC Freshman of the Year.
