The Lady Vols continued their successful fall season with all three of their shells securing top ten finishes at the Head of the Hooch regatta on Saturday.
The Tennessee boat comprised of Caitlin Rahter (cox.), Lauren Wells, Mary Jones, Lindsay Ehrlich, Rachel Mayberry, Kristen Galloway, Krista Gearing, Beth Schwartz, and Nina Dobratz, claimed the gold with a time of 16:06.1.
Lady Vols Stephanie Davis (cox.), Renee Brittle, Caroline Howell, Alex Shishkov, Heather Hill, Leah Smelser, Erin-Monique Shelton, Sarah Hutcheson, and Sara Becker finished third with a time of 16:31.6.
The Orange and White's third entrant in the race crossed the finish line in 16:58.8 for 10th place. Lady Vols Kelly Todd (cox.), Stephanie Williams, Jessica Ayers, Katrina von Peters, Kate Brownlee, Kendra Warren, Mary McKnight, Brittany Hunley, and Genevieve Collins were less than one second behind 8th place North Carolina and 9th place SMU.
"I think all the boats learned some things today that we can really put to use this week going into our last race of the season" Lady Vol head coach Lisa Glenn said. "I'm glad we went down to race. I think we used it well. It was important for use to get a race in between the Head of the Charles and our last race of the season (The Rivanna Romp)."
Tennessee entered three shells in the 27-boat event. Other Division I schools which fielded teams were Texas, Miami, Kansas and Central Florida.
"I think we made good use of this weekend and I was pleased with that. We still have a long way to go, but we're making some positive changes and looking forward to this week."
The Lady Vols are back in action on Sunday, Nov. 13, at the Rivanna Romp in Charlottesville, Va. The event will conclude Tennessee's fall season.
