KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Lady Vol rowing squad closes out the 2006 fall head race season at the Rivanna Romp, hosted by the University of Virginia on the Rivanna Reservoir in Charlottesville, Va.
Tennessee is coming off another outstanding showing this fall, taking home gold and silver in the Championship 8+ race at the Head of the Hooch Regatta last weekend in Chattanooga, Tenn. In all, the Lady Vols have compiled 20 medals during the head race portion of the 2006-07 schedule.
The 2005 races on the Rivanna proved to be a good final test for UT, as the Orange and White snagged fourth, 10th and 14th in the Championship Eight, finishing behind NCAA shells from Ohio State and Wisconsin as well as the host Cavaliers' top crew.
This year, head coach Lisa Glenn will send three crews out in the Eights, four in the coxed Fours and single entries in the Pair, Doubles and Quadruple Scull, a non-coxed four.
Racing for UT starts at 9:00 a.m. with the Eights and wraps up Pair and Double at 11:45 a.m.
