: "Vanessa has done nothing except get better and better during her career at Tennessee. Goalkeepers tend to mature with experience. She is probably playing as well right now as she ever has. She got some solid experience with the under-21 national team this past summer, and I am excited about the leadership she will bring to our back line and the squad."

AS A JUNIOR (2004): Chosen as a second-team All-SEC goalkeeper...Led the conference in goals-against-average at 0.68 and in shutouts with 11 while allowing a paltry 17 goals in 24 games played...Named a second-team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America with a 3.81 grade-point average (GPA) in exercise science...Academic All-SEC choice...Finished first in SEC save percentage (.843) and second in total saves (91)...Had 11 blankings in 24 games played in 2004 to give her 23.5 blankings for her career, breaking the all-time Lady Vol record set by former UT netminder Ellen Dean (16.4)...Shutout both Furman (2-0) and UAB (1-0) in the opening two rounds of the NCAA Tournament in Knoxville...Held opponents scoreless over 334:58 dating back to a 2-1 win over Alabama, before allowing a goal to Florida in the SEC Tournament title match...Had consecutive shutouts over Georgia, Kentucky and Vanderbilt...Named as a All-SEC Second Team member...Made eight saves in a 2-0 win over Georgia on Lady Vol "Senior Night" as the Orange & White clinched the program's second-consecutive SEC regular-season title...Blanked both Vanderbilt and Kentucky by identical 1-0 scores...Was selected as the SEC's Defensive Player of the Week on September 13, 2004 after posting a 1-0-1 record in the First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic, during which the junior held top-ranked North Carolina scoreless (seven saves) and posted a 2-1 win over the Southern California Women of Troy...Chosen to the Soccer America Team of the Week (SEC only) and the Soccer Buzz Magazine Elite Team of the Week for the period of Sept. 5-12 after allowing only one goal and registering a scoreless streak of 325:24 against top-ranked North Carolina and USC...Named to the All-Tournament team at the First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic...

AS A SOPHOMORE (2003): Shattered the Lady Vols' single-season standards for shutouts (12) and lowest goals against average (0.73)...Saw every minute of action between the pipes for the Big Orange, compiling a 17-5-2 overall mark...Ranked second in the SEC in GAA, just behind Auburn All-American keeper Megan Rivera (0.68)...Tied the Tiger standout with a dozen donuts to lead the league...Delivered back-to-back 1-0 victories over Oklahoma and Georgia during the NCAA Tournament...Only goal she allowed during the postseason was a penalty kick by Florida in the Sweet 16 at 89:01...Surrendered just one score in 290 minutes of the SEC Tournament, including shutouts of South Carolina and Ole Miss...Made career-best nine stops in 2-0 triumph over the Rebels in the semifinal round...Registered a school-record shutout streak of 387 minutes that lasted from Oct. 26-Nov. 9...Was unbeaten in 12 consecutive starts until the setback to Florida on Nov. 22...Chosen as the SEC's Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 20 following road blankings of Western Division foes Arkansas (4-0) and LSU (3-0)...Delivered a shutout of UC Santa Barbara in her first career start...Held Richmond and Charlotte scoreless during the First Tennessee Classic...
