Tennessee finished with 10 shots to Louisville's 16. The Cardinals managed three corner kicks to UT's two.
Louisville, a 2013 NCAA Tournament team, provided a good test for Tennessee, which is comprised of 16 returning veterans and 16 newcomers. Eight newcomers saw action on Wednesday with Smith playing all 90 minutes in goal and Anna McClung playing 53 minutes and taking five shots.
McClung had a pair of scoring opportunities in the first 15 minutes, with a shot blocked from the top of the box in the fourth minute and another going over the crossbar in the 15th. Freshman Christine Creighton logged 28 minutes off the bench and fired a pair of shots, including one on goal in the 56th minute that was stopped by UofL keeper Paige Brown.
