KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee soccer program's 2014 signing class was ranked as the No. 11 class in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer on Friday.
Tennessee had four IMG Academy 150 signings in No. 37 Carlyn Baldwin (Oakton, Va.), No. 45 Anna Bialczak (Lutherville, Md.), No. 122 Meaghan Mulligan (Freehold, N.J.) and No. 141 Alexis Smith (San Jose, Calif.). UT tied for sixth nationally with four 2014 IMG Academy 150 signees. The Big Orange also signed a pair of 2013 IMG Academy 150 players in transfers No. 3 Anna McClung (Gate City, Va.) and No. 78 Ariel Kupritz (Maryville, Tenn.). Both McClung and Kupritz are spring enrollees and will compete in Tennessee's spring exhibition play.
Talented newcomers Christine Creighton, Gracie DeGooyer, Meghan Flynn, Colleen Gawkins, Josie Jennings, Ashley Jolly, Olivia Knox and Amanda McClanahan round out Tennessee's impressive 14-player 2014 class.
"It's nice to see these players recognized for the successes they've had, up to this point in their careers," Tennessee head coach Brian Pensky said. "They're certainly a deserving group. Our staff has worked extremely hard to assemble such a talented group of players. But as we all know, these rankings speak of potential, and nothing else. Now the real work begins.
"In some ways, we're most excited about the fact that the SEC has six teams in the Top 15 of the national rankings. That's more teams in the Top 15 than any other conference. This is further evidence of the SEC continuing to grow as one of the elite soccer conferences."
