KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Lady Volunteer soccer team has added Lipscomb to its 2012 spring soccer schedule. Slated for 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, March 29 at Regal Soccer Stadium, fans are encouraged to bring family and friends to see the Lady Vols under the direction of new head coach Brian Pensky. Admission is free.
Thursday's contest marks the second exhibition of the spring for Tennessee, which defeated Cincinnati, 2-0, on March 11.
Starting sophomore center back Allie Sirna is looking forward to the opportunity to keep the ball rolling from a 2011 season in which the Lady Vols appeared in their ninth all-time NCAA Tournament and finished the campaign with a 15-7 record.
"Spring games keep the team working," Sirna said. "It allows us to compete again against a lot of different teams and keeps the momentum going so that when we return after the summer and move into the fall we have not left off and we keep moving forward."
Thursday's match will make Lipscomb the first of eleven teams from the state of Tennessee to take the pitch at Regal Stadium this spring. The Tennessee Collegiate Classic hosted by the Lady Vols on April 14 will feature eleven in-state teams and showcase some of the state's top collegiate talent.
