HAMILTON, Scotland - For the second consecutive match, Tennessee soccer signee Amalie Thestrup scored the match-winner for Denmark in a 2-1 victory over Austria in the second qualifying round of the 2013 UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championships.
With the score tied 1-1 in the 85th minute, Thestrup received the ball at the top of the penalty area and took a touch to her right before finishing into the bottom right corner. For the match, Denmark held an 11-4 advantage in shots, while enjoying a 5-1 margin in corners.
The Denmark win, combined with Scotland's 4-2 victory over Ukraine today, clinches the top spot in Group 3, advancing the Danes into this summer's Final Round of the UEFA under-19 European Championship.
Denmark's third and final match of the second qualifying round will be played on Tuesday, April 9th against Ukraine, at 5:00 p.m. CET (Central European Time) at Falkirk Stadium in Falkirk, Scotland.
