May 31, 2012
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee Soccer signee Hannah Wilkinson of New Zealand was in the news once again as she continues to make a splash in the Kiwi football community. Wilkinson received multiple awards at the New Zealand Football Awards dinner held in Auckland, New Zealand Thursday evening.
Wilkinson's first of three acknowledgments came in the form of the Nike Young Women's Player of the Year Award for her efforts on the pitch with both New Zealand's Football Ferns and Northern Football club. The award, which is given to the most outstanding U-20 Female athlete each year, signifies hard work and dedication on the field. Wilkinson's night however did not end there.
Following her Nike Player of the Year award, Wilkinson was honored as the ASB Women's Player of the Year for her contributions to the Northern Football club. Without question, Wilkinson's scoring ability ultimately netted her the ASB Player of the Year honors.
Internationally, Wilkinson was honored again for her scoring ways with the Football Ferns as she helped lead the Kiwi U-20 team. Netting a total of nine times in international play, Wilkinson also received the coveted Golden Boot award at the annual awards dinner. Wilkinson should be an offensive force for the Volunteers that SEC opponents will not look forward to facing this coming fall.
The timetable for the awards consists of the 2011 calendar year and the accomplishments that each athlete made in that competitive year.
