LONDON, England -- With Olympic soccer action underway in London, a pair of players with Tennessee connections were in action on Wednesday. Hannah Wilkinson and New Zealand dropped a 1-0 decision to Great Britain while Rhian Wilkinson and Canada fell to Japan, 2-1.
With New Zealand, Hannah Wilkinson played all 90 minutes and had one shot on goal. She was also booked with a yellow card in the 43rd minute. The British scored the game's lone goal in the 64th minute, coming from Stephanie Houghton.
In the Canada-Japan match, Rhian Wilkinson played 71 minutes before leaving for a sub. Japan opened a 2-0 lead before Melissa Tancredi drew Canada within one at 2-1 in the 55th minute. But Canada was unable to tie the game. Marie-Eve Nault did not play for Canada.
