MONCTON, Canada --Incoming Tennessee freshman Carlyn Baldwin and the U.S. U-20 Women's National team took a 3-0 win over China on Tuesday at Moncton to conclude group play with a 2-1-0 record and advance to the quarterfinals of the Stadium in the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.
The U.S. tallied six points in Group B play, with a 2-0 loss to Germany on Aug. 5, a 1-0 win over Brazil on Aug. 8 and Tuesday's victory over China.
Baldwin saw playing time off the bench in two of those contests, entering in the 74th minute against Germany and then in the 62nd minute against China.
With Germany's emphatic 5-1 win over Brazil taking place in Montreal at the same time as Team USA's win in Moncton, the Germans sit atop Group B and will face the second-placed team in Group A, while the Stars and Stripes will take on the Group A winner, which will be determined later in the evening on Tuesday. The Americans' quarterfinal match against the Group A winner will take place on Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. ET.
