KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --After scoring three goals in Tennessee's wins over No. 17 UCF and James Madison this weekend, junior forward Hannah Wilkinson was named the TopDrawerSoccer.com Player of the Week on Tuesday.
For Wilkinson, who is on the NSCAA MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, this marks her first national weekly accolades of the 2013 season. Last season, Wilkinson was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week on Oct. 22, 2012, and the Soccer America Women's National Team of the Week on Oct. 25, 2012.
In July, Wilkinson was named to the TDS Preseason Best XI third team. She was also ranked as the No. 25 player in the nation in the TDS Preseason Women's National Top 100.
Wilkinson is the first Tennessee player to earn TopDrawerSoccer.com Player of the Week since Amy Harrison received the same honor on Aug. 22, 2012. She also becomes just the third UT player to be named to the award, joining Harrison and Kylee Rossi (Oct. 1, 2007).
The New Zealand native scored the match-winners in both of Tennessee's victories this weekend. At No. 17 UCF on Friday, Wilkinson headed in a free kick from Cheyenne Spade for the winner in the 81st minute. On Sunday against James Madison, she recorded the first multi-goal performance of her collegiate career. Wilkinson scored goals in the fourth minute and the 77th minute, getting past the JMU keeper both times for open-net shots.
Tennessee will next host Dayton on Friday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. Admission to all 2013 regular-season Tennessee soccer matches is free. The game will feature a free live video broadcast on UTSports.com with Brian Rice on the call, Tori Beeler Watson providing analysis and Dani Klupenger reporting from the sideline.
