BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Following her breakout weekend during Tennessee soccer's (7-6-1, 4-1-1 Southeastern Conference) unbeaten trip through "The Magnolia State," Lady Vol rookie midfielder Caroline Brown has been selected as the SEC Freshman Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 11th.

The Hershey, Pa., native posted her first two career match-winning goals, including a "golden goal" at 102:22 to down Mississippi State (Oct. 8) in double overtime, 1-0, and the deciding score at 23:06 to break an early deadlock during Tennessee's eventual 3-1 triumph at Ole Miss (Oct. 10).

"This is a great honor for Caroline Brown and certainly well deserved after her strong effort during this past weekend's trip to Mississippi," Lady Vol Head Coach Angela Kelly said. "She demonstrated tremendous poise in the attacking third by scoring both match-winners, including one in double overtime at Mississippi State, and played a key role in creating other quality offensive opportunities to help us pick up a pair of vital wins in league play."

Brown entered last weekend's trip with just one career goal, scored during the season-opening 3-0 win over Western Kentucky, in her brief time clad in the Orange & White and four total points before her sterling league road performance. Her effort also came despite not starting either match, playing just 36 minutes as a substitute at MSU and 74 minutes versus UM.

As a result of her two-score performance, Brown now possesses three goals and two assists in 2010 and moved into a tie for fourth (counting league contests only) in the SEC statistics in goals per match (0.50), a deadlock for eighth in points per match (1.00) and a tie for 10th in conference goals scored (two).

She joins junior teammate Chelsea Hatcher as this season's Lady Vol weekly league soccer honorees after the Cincinnati, Ohio, product was tabbed as the SEC Offensive Player of the Week back on Sept. 27.

The league lead will be at stake during Tennessee's upcoming weekend road trip as the Lady Vols venture to battle No. 6 Florida (10-2-2, 4-1-1 SEC) in Gainesville, Fla., on Fri., Oct. 15, at 5 p.m. ET before traveling to Columbia, S.C., to take on No. 15 South Carolina on Sun., Oct. 17, at 3 p.m. ET live on ESPNU. The Gamecocks (11-2-2, 5-0-1 SEC) currently lead the SEC standings with 16 total points while the Big Orange and Gators are tied for second with 13 points.
