A high-profile recruit and the first Lady Vol softball player from the state of Indiana, Clay ventures to Knoxville with a slew of athletic and academic achievements from her career at Culver Girls Academy...A 2006 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-North region selection and Hoosier Diamond Indiana Miss Softball (2006), Clay maintains hold of the state of Indiana's career home run mark (43) and career grand slam record with five...She also set the state record for single-season homers with 15 in 2006 and broke Indiana's single-season walk record by drawing 44 free passes during her junior campaign...Also holds the Indiana state mark for put-outs by a catcher with 1305...Was chosen Most Valuable Player of the Indiana All-Star Game in 2006...Registered a career .549 batting average and 152 RBI...While leading her squad to a second sectional title in 2005 with a 29-2 record, the Rochester, Ind., native was chosen as a Louisville Slugger/NFCA High School All-American and a NFCA All-North Region selection as well as the Gatorade State Player of the Year in Indiana...In 2005 Clay hit an incredible .551 with 11 HR's, 38 RBI and a slugging percentage of 1.231, while 27 of her 43 hits during the year went for extra bases...She has also reaped all-state honors on four occasions with first-team nods in 2005 and 2006 and a pair of third-team selections in 2003 and 2004 while helping her team to a four-year mark of 95-13...Clay also made her presence felt on the pitch as a first-team all-conference soccer player after guiding her squad to a conference title and a 13-2-2 mark in 2005...She played summer softball for the Indiana Magic and Gordon's Panthers.


Enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences...Excelled off the field at Culver Girls Academy by maintaining a 3.5 GPA with four gold A's (3.7 GPA+ per semester) and two silver A's (3.2 GPA+ per semester)...She was also tabbed as a Batten Scholar and awarded a full-ride scholarship based on her strong academic ability...Spent time as a peer tutor, served in the student government and on the Student Advisory Board (SAB) and wrote for both The Quill (literary magazine at Culver) and The Vedette (newsletter)...Took flying lessons during her stay at Culver to earn her solo pilot's license...Also spent her freshman and sophomore years as a member of the women's military rifle drill team...Has a brother Blake, 17...Alexia Jordan Clay was born September 29, 1987, in Rochester, Ind...Her parents are Pam and Kim Clay.
