She has all of the tools to be a very, very good Division I player and is a powerful hitter with a strong arm and covers a lot of ground wherever she plays. Danielle was leading our team in fielding as our starting shortstop at the time of her injury and we are counting on her to bounce back."


AS A FRESHMAN (2003): Sidelined for the majority of her rookie season due to an injured left knee sustained at the UNLV Tournament on Feb. 22...Underwent successful surgery on March 20 and endured months of extensive rehab before she could step back onto the diamond...

Started the Lady Vols' first 15 games at shortstop with a .273 batting average, seven runs and a homer...Led the Southeastern Conference with a .983 fielding percentage at short, committing one error in 58 chances...Had turned in a sizzling 7-for-15 (.467) clip in her five games in Las Vegas...Went 2-for-4 in the championship clincher against Syracuse on Feb. 23, including her first double...That effort came on the heels of a career-best 3-for-4 outing in the 3-2 decision over UL-Monroe the previous night...Swiped the first base of her career and went 1-for-3 in Stacey Jennings' perfect game against UNLV on Feb. 21...Cranked her first home run in a 10-2 thrashing of Jacksonville at the Triple Crown Invitational in St. Augustine, Fla., on Feb. 8...Went 2-for-4 in the second triumph over the Dolphins...Singled down the left field line for her initial collegiate hit during the seventh inning against Stetson.


HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in softball three years and served as captain twice at Coral Gables High School...Earned second-team All-America honors as a senior and picked up first-team all-state and all-county honors in her final campaign...Participated in the Florida High School All-Star Game...Batted .586 and slugged seven home runs to earn her team's Best Offensive Player award...Chosen second-team all-state at shortstop as a junior in 2001...After sitting out her sophomore season following a transfer, she batted .588 with 28 RBI and five homers in helping her team to the district championship...Voted as CGHS's Most Valuable Player and top offensive player, Arriaga was also selected All-Dade County at shortstop...In 1999, she was named honorable mention all-state and All-Dade County while attending Southwest High School in Miami...Voted as Softball's Rookie of the Year as well...Competed for the Miami Stingrays club team and drove in the winning run as her squad placed third at the Colorado ASA Fireworks Tournament.

PERSONAL: Enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences...Ambition is to be the best player she can be when she steps on the field...Enjoys cooking, drawing and painting...Former teammates playing college softball include Sandra Alvarez (Cornell), Nikki Baldwin (Florida), Natalie de la Vega (Central Michigan), Jenny Diaz (Auburn), Angie Eguilior (Stetson), and Jackie Wilkins (Alabama)...Chose to attend Tennessee because it outshone other schools she visited with its family atmosphere and great environment...Credits both her father and summer coach, Gator Rebhan, for making her the player she is today...Has an older sister, Nicole, 24...Danielle Christina Arriaga was born Dec. 20, 1983, in Miami, Fla...Her parents are Felipe and Elizabeth Arriaga.
