A top 25 finalist for the USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Year award and a second team Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Southeast Region selection, Dotson led the Big Orange and rated in a tie for fifth in the Southeastern Conference in RBIs with 64 to go along with a .401 batting average (fifth in the league), 54 runs scored, eight doubles, four triples, 10 HR's and 26 stolen bases (fifth in the SEC)...Ranked 20th in NCAA Division I in RBIs-per-game at 1.08...Started 59 of 61 games for Tennessee and reached base safely via hit or walk in 49 of her 59 contests...Led UT with 17 multi-RBI efforts, tallied 21 multi-hit games and posted a 13-game hitting streak from March 3-22...Broke a 15-year-old single-game Lady Vol record on March 15 and tallied her first-career two-HR effort by registering nine RBIs while going 3-for-4 with a three-run HR and a grand slam during a 16-2 (6 inn.) rout of Tennessee State in Nashville...Led the Big Orange with a .500 average (8-for-16) while posting a pair of hits in all four match-ups during the NCAA Knoxville Regional (5/20-5/22)...She hit safely in 10 of her last 11 games of 2011, despite suffering from the effects of a lingering right knee injury...Dotson's two-RBI single in the fifth inning granted the Big Orange a short-lived 4-3 lead over #22 Oklahoma State (5/22)...Singled in a tally in UT's 4-1 SEC Tournament-opening 4-1 win over #22 Kentucky (5/12)...Was 4-for-9 at the dish in the high-profile series at #4 Florida (5/6-5/8)...Was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple and three RBIs in a 7-0 triumph over Appalachian State (4/13)...Posted a .428 average (3-for-7) during a televised two-game sweep at #2 Georgia (4/6)...Led off the fourth and sixth innings with singles and later scored each time in a 4-1 victory over #1 Alabama (3/22)...Blasted a solo home run in the first inning as UT topped Iowa, 2-0 (3/18)...Recorded at least one RBI over nine straight games from March 3-15, hitting .567 during the skein with six HR's and 28 RBIs...Knocked in six runs, tripled and homered during the series at Kentucky (3/11-3/13)...Was named the SEC Player of the Week for March 7 after hitting .667 (10-of-15) with two doubles, three HR's and 13 RBIs over five contests at the Tennessee Classic...Was a season-best 4-for-4 with a three-bagger and a HR and for the second time in 2011 just missed hitting for the cycle as the Lady Vols topped Furman (3/5), 6-4...Doubled and knocked in a trio of tallies in a 6-0 win over Evansville (3/3)...Just missed hitting for the cycle by a HR and posted four RBIs as part of a 3-for-4 performance in an 11-3 (6 inn.) rout of San Diego State (2/24)...Posted a pair of hits in wins against Southern Utah (2/22) and Michigan State (2/13)...Went 3-for-3 with two RBIs as UT crushed Boise State (2/18), 15-1 (5 inn.)...Hit .636 (7-of-11) with nine RBIs during the season-opening Stetson Leadoff Classic (2/11-2/13)...Delivered a 3-for-4, four-RBI effort with two runs scored and her first homer of 2011 in routing Stetson (2/12), 11-0 (5 inn.).

AS A FRESHMAN (2010):

Dotson started all 62 games in which she appeared for Tennessee in 2010, compiling an impressive .391 batting average (66-of-169) with 54 runs scored, 66 hits, five doubles, three triples, three home runs, 29 steals and 37 RBIs...Posted 19 multi-hit and 10 multi-RBI games...Tabbed as a Louisville Slugger/NFCA Third Team All-American and Louisville Slugger/NFCA First Team All-Southeast Region selection...Chosen 2010 First-Team All-Southeastern Conference, the SEC Co-Freshman of the Year, SEC All-Freshman and to the SEC All-Defensive Team (RF)...Rated eighth overall in the SEC in hitting, ninth in runs scored and 10th in hits and on-base percentage (.495)...Counting SEC match-ups only, Dotson led Tennessee with a .413 average to rate fifth in the league...Was 2-for-3 with an RBI in UT's 7-5 victory over #9 Georgia (6/4) at the Women's College World Series...Delivered a hit and walked once in her first career WCWS action against #3 Arizona (6/3)...Singled in the first during of the deciding, 4-3 victory over #2 Michigan (5/28) at NCAA Super Regionals...Posted a hit in all three games of the Knoxville Regional, including a 3-for-5 effort during the 3-1 (9 inn.) championship game triumph over Louisville (5/23)...Reached base all four times she came to the plate during the finale at #4 Alabama, twice by single, once on a fielder's choice and once via walk...During the rally to upset #4 Florida (4/23), 4-3, Dotson singled twice, scored in the fifth and coerced a key walk and later tallied the winning run during the decisive seventh-inning comeback...Went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI as the Big Orange outlasted Arkansas (4/14), 3-1...Singled in a pair of runs during the fifth as Tennessee again rallied to beat Auburn, 5-3 (4/11)...Delivered the eventual game-winning HR on a towering two-run shot to right in the sixth that landed in a creek beyond the wall as UT rallied for a 2-1 comeback victory at AU (4/10)...Blasted her second HR of 2010 during the 14-0 (5 inn.) thrashing of Western Carolina (4/8)...Was chosen as the USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Week (3/30) and SEC Player of the Week (3/29) after hitting .769 (10-of-13) with a string of seven consecutive base hits during a four-game stretch against Kentucky and Ole Miss...Posted an .875 average (7-for-8) during the doubleheader sweep of Kentucky (3/23), including a walk-off RBI-single in the 10th of UT's 4-3 comeback victory and a career-high 4-for-4 effort with three RBIs in the 7-1 win over the `Cats...Singled and later scored in the sixth inning, helping key the decisive rally as Tennessee roared back from a 6-4 deficit to beat Campbell (3/14), 9-6...Blasted her first collegiate home run while going 2-for-2 with three RBIs in a 10-0 (5 inn.) rout of Liberty (3/14)...Hit .600 (6-for-10) at Mississippi State in her first collegiate league series, posting a 3-for-4 effort with a three-bagger and three RBIs in the opener (3/9)...Doubled as part of a 2-for-2 effort with a career-high three stolen bases in the 6-0 win over Ohio (3/5)...Delivered a 2-for-4 performance with a tally in a close loss to #10 Stanford (2/25)...Tallied a .600 batting average on 9-of-15 hitting during the title run at the Troy Cox Classic in Las Cruces, N.M., with two doubles, two triples and a team-best 10 RBIs...Knocked in three RBIs in the 11-2 (5 inn.) romp of St. Mary's (2/21)...Was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and three RBIs, just missing hitting for the cycle versus Cleveland State (2/21)...Tripled and knocked in three runs as part of a 2-for-4 effort against Bradley (2/20)...Registered her first collegiate hit on a third-inning single against #11 Oklahoma (2/14) at the NTC Division I Elite Invitational.

Dotson participated in four sports during her outstanding interscholastic career at Savannah Country Day in Savannah, Ga., including softball, basketball, soccer and track...A four-time First-Team All-State and Region 3A Player of the Year and two-time Greater Savannah Softball Athlete of the Year (2006, 2007) on the diamond, Dotson helped lead her softball squad to three consecutive Region 3A titles and a trio of top-eight finishes in the state playoffs, including a high of third-place in 2007 with a 26-8 record...During the `07 campaign, she set Georgia state records for highest single-season batting average (.716) to go along with 68 hits, 60 runs scored, 23 RBIs and a .916 on-base percentage, while in 2006 she set state marks for single-season stolen bases (63), hits (68), triples (10)...Dotson holds Georgia career records for thefts (181), batting average (.638) and triples (29)...From 2006-08, Dotson put up staggering batting averages of .667, .539 and .716...As a senior she played in both the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) All Star Senior Softball and Basketball Games...On the hardwood Dotson was a two-time First-Team All-State selection, twice the Region 3A Player of the Year (2008, 2009) and helped guide her team to a Class A runner-up finish at the 2009 Georgia State Tournament...Dotson was a two-year captain who wrapped up her basketball career as her school's record holder for career scoring (1,709 points), steals (370) and rebounds (790)...She was twice selected first-team all-area in soccer as part of a pair of Region 3A/2A titlists (2007, 2008)...Dotson broke a 31-year old Savannah Country Day record on the track in the 200m with a 25.6 clocking in 2007 and then improved on her own mark with a 25.5 in 2008...She finished first in the region in the 200m in 2008, second in 2007 and was third in the region at 100m in `07...Included among her many high school honors were the 2008 Hollis Stacy Award for the best three-sport female athlete, the Lawton M. Calhoun Award for the most outstanding athlete in Savannah, the Vince J. Dooley Award for character, teamwork and citizenship and the Charles Daley Scholarship Award for academic excellence...Other high school activites included Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Relay for Life, Special Olympics and serving as the senior class secretary and as part of the homecoming court...She has played ASA Gold summer ball for the Georgia Xtreme, the Atlanta Vipers and the Tennessee Fury.

PERSONAL:

Enrolled in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, taking on a double major in sport management and retail & consumer sciences with a minor in business...Comes from an athletic family as her dad played football and baseball at The Citadel and in Japan, her mom was a collegiate basketball player at Armstrong Atlantic State (Ga.) and both of her brothers were on the baseball team at Newberry College (S.C.)...Played Gold ball alongside current Lady Vol teammate Shelby Burchell...Hopes to work for a major sports company or a professional sports team after college...Has two brothers, Gene, 31, and Matthew, 28...Katherine Marie Dotson was born April 24, 1990, in Savannah, Ga....Her parents are Gene and Marie Dotson.
