AS A JUNIOR (2003): Earned a berth on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-South Region Second Team as a utility player...With a .338 clip in her 61 outings, Lauren finished third on the Big Orange in batting average behind Kristi Durant (.424) and Amber Rhinehart (.340)...Known for her versatility, she drew starts as the Lady Vols' catcher (26), outfielder (10), third baseman (seven) and designated player (six)...Her 41 runs batted in were two shy of UT's top spot occupied by classmate Angela Brewer...Reached double-figures with 10 two-baggers and totaled 11 multiple-RBI outings...

In SEC action, Lauren registered a .342 average and drove in a team-high 20 runs...She contributed an eye-popping .667 (6-for-9) series at Ole Miss to help the Lady Vols secure the sixth seed for the SEC Tournament, their first postseason action since 1999...Set a season-high by driving in four runs during game two against the Rebels, as she was 3-for-4 and poked her ninth double of the year...Shared the team lead of three RBI against Lipscomb with Rhinehart...Went 3-for-9 (.333) during No. 10 Georgia's visit to Tyson Park...Enjoyed a tremendous doubleheader against East rival Kentucky, as she was 2-for-3 with an RBI in the opener and 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs in the second matchup...Lashed her first triple of the year down the right field line and dove head-first into third base, helping the Orange to a sweep...Responsible for driving in the winning run against No. 13 South Carolina in the second game with an RBI double that scored freshman pinch runner Kim Anders in the eighth inning...Received all-tournament honors for the first time as a Lady Vol after she produced a 3-for-5 (.600) effort in the First Tennessee Round Robin...Delivered a sizzling .625 (5-for-8) performance against Mississippi State...Slugged a two-run homer in the second inning of the finale to give UT a 2-1 lead in an eventual 16-2 rout of the Bulldogs...Wound up 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI in that contest...Before Alabama's visit in mid-March, she had been 11 for her last 20 for a .555 clip with 10 RBI and a smoking 1.188 slugging percentage...Was a season-high 3-for-3 on March 11 with three runs and three RBI in the opener against Lipscomb, including a homer...Later socked another two-run dinger in the nightcap off Lady Bison ace Danielle Catalano...Certainly made her one hit against No. 7 LSU count, as her first home run at Tennessee lifted her squad to a 2-0 lead in an eventual 3-2 upset win...Singled, walked and drove in two runs during the 14-0 domination of Belmont on March 5...Picked up her first Jimmy Chitwood Award with a 3-for-4 showing against Florida A&M on March 1 and also scored once...Notched first RBI as a Lady Vol with a sixth-inning base-hit into left field that drove in Chemil Washington...Wound up as UT's second-best hitter at the Golden Panther Invitational by going 4-for-9 for a .444 batting average.

AT UNC WILMINGTON (2001 & 2002):

Started all 106 games during her two seasons competing for the University of North Carolina at Wilmington...Compiled a career batting average of .313 for the Seahawks...Chosen as the first-team All-Southern Conference catcher as a sophomore after hitting .310 with 24 runs batted in, seven doubles and six homers...UNCW finished 22-32 overall and 7-13 in the SoCon...Tied for the team lead by drawing 23 walks...Rated second on her squad in batting average, hits (45), on-base percentage (.429), slugging percentage (.497) and total bases (72)...Crossed paths with her future Tennessee teammates at the Triangle Classic in Raleigh, N.C., on Feb. 15...Behind Stephanie Humphrey's one-hit, 13-strikeout gem, the Orange rolled to a 12-0 romp...As a rookie in 2001, Mattox registered a .316 clip to rank third on UNCW...Ripped 10 two-baggers and totaled seven sacrifice hits as her team finished 20-34 overall and 5-14 in league activity.


HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year all-conference selection in softball at Providence Senior High School...A two-time captain on the diamond, she was chosen all-state as a senior and voted as her club's Most Valuable Player...Lettered three times in basketball and served as captain during her final season... Sang in the chorus.
