AS A FRESHMAN (2006):

Hit .273 with three home runs and 15 RBI?in her first season as a Lady Vol on her way to SEC?All-Freshman honors...Hit by 18 pitches in 2006 to move into second place on the all-time UT charts for that category after only one season...Had an RBI in the 6-4 win over Tennessee Tech (5/19)...Hit .333 during the SEC Tournament with a 2-for-2, one run scored effort in the title win over LSU...Tied the opener with Mississippi State with a sacrifice fly in the sixth to help UT start clawing back from a 1-0 deficit...Delivered three hits in seven at-bats (.429) and stole two bases during the series sweep of Ole Miss...Hit her third home run of the season in UT's 2-0 win over Austin Peay (4/11) and knocked in two in the DH...Doubled twice and knocked in a pair of runs as part of a 3-for-7 (.429) effort in the series against #24 Florida...Was part of a back-to-back home run effort in game one (10-2, 5 inn.) of the DH sweep of ETSU, as her homer followed fellow freshman Sarah Vaughn's blast...Was struck by three pitches against Arkansas to bring her season-high total to 10...Also hit .400 (2-of-5) in Fayetteville with two runs scored and an RBI...Registered a hit in each of UT's 8-0 (5) and 4-0 victories at Kentucky (3/29)...Was 2-of-4 at the plate in UT's 5-4 (9) loss at #6 Alabama...Hit .333 (2-of-6) with an RBI in the doubleheader sweep of Liberty (3/23)...Drove in a run in the 8-0 (5) win over #18 Auburn on a fifth-inning single...Was 2-of-8 with a run scored and an RBI in her first collegiate SEC series aganst #18 Auburn...Singled and stole a base in the 15-1 (5) rout of Belmont in the second game of a doubleheader...Hit an exceptional .438 (7-of-16) with eight runs, a double and her first collegiate home run in the triumph over N.C. State at the USF adidas Tournament in Clearwater, Fla...Played in two games at the Worth Invitational, drawing a walk and getting hit by a pitch...In abbreviated action at the rain-plagued NFCA Leadoff Classic, Horiuchi registered a .333 average with the first two RBI of her career at UT on a fourth-inning single against No. 25/22 Iowa...Hit an impressive .417 at the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic while scoring six runs...Started all three games for UT at the Coastal Carolina Tournament and delivered her first collegiate hit in the fifth inning of the 1-0 (8 inn.) triumph over Illinois State (2/10) in the season-opener...Horiuchi also scored a pair of runs during the weekend.

HIGH SCHOOL:

During her sparkling career at Kamehameha, Horiuchi was a key part of three-consecutive Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) championship teams (2002-2004) as well as a member of a 2002 Hawaii State Championship squad that registered a flawless 18-0 overall record...An ILH second team track standout in the 200 meters in 2004, she also reaped first-team all-state softball honors as a second baseman in 2003, 2004 and 2005...Selected first-team all-state by the Honolulu Advertiser and second-team all-state by the Honolulu Star-Bulletin following the 2005 campaign...She boasts career-bests of 17 stolen bases, 11 RBI, four homeruns, 14 runs scored and a batting average of .471...Her Amateur Softball Association (ASA) team Mililani Prep finished in first place at the Western A Nationals in Oregon in 2005.

Enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences...Horiuchi excelled in the classroom as a member of the Principal's List (4.0 GPA) and as an Honors student (3.5+ GPA)...Was named as Kamehameha's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year (2005)... Hopes to become a pharmacist after college...Models herself as a player after 2004 U.S. Olympic gold medalist second baseman Lovieanne Jung...Has three brothers: Lance Jr., 20, Kekoa Dalit, 14, and Joseph Machado, 12; and two sisters: Kiane Dalit, 16, and Kelly Machado, 10...Liane Maile Naka Horiuchi was born Feb. 19, 1987, in Moanalua, Hawaii...Her parents are Lance Horiuchi and Diane Pedro.
