A multi-talented student-athlete at Chaparral High School in Paradise Valley, Ariz., Stander received numerous academic awards such as the A1A Scholar-Athlete Award from 2003-06 and even reaped first place in the Dolly Rosenbloom State Writing Contest (2004) and the 2006 Arizona State Fair Art Contest...On the diamond she helped guide her squad to four consecutive region titles while picking up three all-region selections (2005, 2006, 2007) and two second-team all-state 4A nods (2006, 2007)...Stander also reaped honorable mention selections to the all-state (2005) and all-region (2004) teams...Named to the 4A-1A East Valley Tribune First-Team in 2007 after hitting .440 with 53 stolen bases for Chaparral H.S...The three-time Chaparral captain also boasts a 2.6 time from home to first base...During summer ball she helped guide the Arizona Suncats to three 18U-Gold Nationals and previously registered stellar batting averages of .500 at the Champions Cup and 18U-Gold Nationals and .700 in the Boulder (Colo.) Showcase...Her team finished fifth in the Surf City SPARQ Showcase.


Enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences...Her biggest thrill to date in softball was playing in 18-U Gold Nationals at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla., on her birthday...Enjoys oil painting and travel in her spare time...Has a sister Karli, 22, who's in her senior season as an outfielder at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo....Claims to have modeled herself after her big sister because of her integrity, leadership skills and dedication...Kelsey Lynn Stander was born Aug. 9, 1989, in Phoenix, Ariz....Her parents are Susan and Dr. Paul Stander.
