KNOXVILLE - Three roundtrippers, including two by Hannah Akamine propelled #3/2 Tennessee past Wright State 9-0 in six innings in game one of UT's first home game of the season at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium, Wednesday.

Akamine finished the day 2-for-3 for the Lady Vols (16-1) with both of her hits going out of the park while Megan Geer was 2-of-4 on the day with a double and a home run.

Ellen Renfroe now (10-0) on the season, finished the first game striking out nine Wright State (1-9) batters and sat down the side by way of the K in the third inning.

Up 5-0 entering the sixth inning, both Akamine and Geer blasted two run shots to left field to clear the bases and the field as the Lady Vols finished game one with a walk off run-rule victory.

Melissa Davin ripped a double down the left field line to score Annie Aldrete from third. Aldrete reached one batter earlier when she roped a triple down the right field line with two outs on the board to put the Lady Vols up 1-0 after the first inning.

Rainey Gaffin started off the third reaching first base after getting hit by a pitch. She moved up to second on a wild pitch and stole third coming home on a single to left by Geer.

Madison Shipman reached in the next at bat on a single through the right side, jumping up to second as Geer was thrown out after getting caught between third and home on the single. Shipman reached third on a groundout by Aldrete and scored on a throwing error by Wright State's first baseman.

Shipman would have reached regardless as back-to-back doubles to the outfield by Melissa Davin and Lexi Overstreet gave the Lady Vols a 4-0 advantage.

Tennessee added to its lead when Akamine banged a solo shot off of the scoreboard in the first at bat of the fourth inning.

Akamine repeated on the round tripper in the bottom of the sixth inning this time with a shot to left field that also scored Hannah Macdonald who pinch ran for Cheyanne Tarango giving UT a 7-0 lead.

The Lady Vols walked off after a two-run shot by Geer to left field that also scored Haley Tobler and enforced the run rule.
