Tennessee Head Coach Ralph Weekly
(opening comments) "I was very proud of our kids today, but I would be remiss if I didn't say that we started slowly. It kind of worried us, but we talked together as a team in the fourth inning and got some things going because Charleston has a history of coming back in late innings. Monica had a great game, but I think we can do better tomorrow."

(on Monica Abbott's performance following the third-inning delay) "I was very upset about that delay because it shouldn't have happened, and she shouldn't have been left standing out there all that time with a runner on third. It is a testimony to her mental strength that she could come back."

(on the third-inning delay) "I've made it a career not to comment on other coaches, but I wasn't doing anything different than we've done all year long. I wasn't more than four feet from the dugout, and I didn't call time. I just yelled out something to the catcher. For us, we do that all the time in the SEC."

Monica Abbott
(on the third-inning delay) "I didn't really know what was going on actually. The biggest thing for me was getting out of the inning. The delay makes it hard because you're not allowed to pitch off the mound (during the delay), so you have to throw to the infielders, and keep their arms warm. It doesn't matter how long the delay is, you just have to make the adjustment."

Katherine Card
(on whether facing the College of Charleston for a second time was an advantage) "A little bit. We had some success against them last time just like we did today. It was a long time ago, but I can remember some of the at bats and hitting the ball well."

(on coming back from her recent injury) "Actually, yesterday was my first day of practice with the team, so I didn't really know what to expect. I got in the cage today and tried to get as many cuts as felt natural. I didn't know what to expect, but I knew if she put it over the plate, I was going to hit it."

(on learning from the team's experiences last year) "I think when you are given an opportunity and you fall short, it motivates you for the next year. I think as a team, we just didn't want to be in the same situation again, and it has been a driving force all year."

Lindsay Schutzler
(on scoring first) "I think it's always important to get out there and to score first. I didn't anticipate that we'd have as much trouble getting runs across as we did this game, so it turned out to be really important."
