2014 Schedule | UTTIX.com
We are now 29 days away from the start of the 2014 Tennessee softball season!
In January and February UTSports.com will count down the days remaining until the start of the Lady Vols' 2014 campaign (Feb. 7) with looks back at the many Lady Vols who donned jersey numbers 30-00.
Time to hop in the DeLorean and travel back 14 years to catch up with the only Lady Vol to ever wear No. 29, alum Amanda Venable (1999-2000 and pictured above).
#29 AMANDA VENABLE
1999-2000 | IF/C | 5-8 | R/R | Rio Linda, Calif.
Venable was a big-time player who made an impact immediately. After a junior college All-American career at Sacramento City CC in which she hit .429 with 73 RBIs, 18 doubles and eight triples, Venable brought a big stick to the UT lineup. Joining the Lady Vols as a junior in 1999, Venable hit .376 with nine homers, 18 doubles, and 53 RBIs. She and teammate Kenyail Norris were the first Lady Vols to earn SEC All-Tournament honors. Venable finished her UT career with a .353 batting average (143-for-405) with 16 homers, 32 doubles, 91 RBIs and 57 runs. She was also one of those special players who elevated her game in conference play, boasting a .371 batting average (65-for-175) with seven homers, 15 doubles and 32 RBIs over 55 SEC games.
