KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - On Saturday, January 17th, at the Lee Softball Stadium and the HPER Indoor Facility on the UT campus, the Tennessee Lady Vol softball squad and co-head coaches Ralph and Karen Weekly will serve as hosts to over 125 high school and summer ball coaches at a UT Coaching Clinic. Registrants for the event span nine different U.S. states and over 100 institutions that sponsor the sport of softball.
During the clinic, Lady Vol coaches and players will cover every aspect of the Tennessee softball program including physical fitness and mental training.
"We really look forward to working with and interacting with these coaches this weekend," Lady Vol Co-Head Coach Ralph Weekly said. "These individuals are critical in the development of young softball players in their respective communities."
Under the guidance of the Weeklys, the UT program has posted a staggering 376 victories since the beginning of the 2002 campaign, posted three consecutive top three national finishes at the Women's College World Series (2005-07) and become the first Southeastern Conference softball program to reach both No. 1 in the national polls and the WCWS Championship Series. Tennessee has also led the nation in fielding percentage in three of the last five seasons, in earned run average in 2007 and in team batting average in 2006 at .342.
