KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Lady Vol softball team is slated to make a league-high four appearances on the ESPN family of networks during its upcoming 2011 campaign, according to a Thursday release by the Southeastern Conference office.

Tennessee will kick-off its nationally televised slate by hosting Auburn at the Lee Softball Stadium on Fri., April 1st, live on ESPNU at 8 p.m. ET. Three of the scheduled broadcasts will occur on the road as UT ventures to Baton Rouge, La., to face LSU on Sat., April 16th, at 11 a.m. CT live on ESPN2, and then wraps up the regular season by traveling to Gainesville, Fla., to battle defending SEC Eastern Division Champ Florida on Sat., May 7th, at Noon ET on ESPN and on Sun., May 8th, on ESPNU at 3 p.m. ET. Also, for the second straight campaign, ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU will broadcast every match-up during the annual SEC Softball Tournament, slated to be held this year in Oxford, Miss.

"The SEC/ESPN television contract is very beneficial to the sport of softball in our conference," Lady Vol Co-Head Coach Karen Weekly said. "We're excited to be playing four times in front of a national TV audience. We recruit nationally, so this exposure gives our players' families and friends and all of our Tennessee fans the opportunity to see us play in some big games."

Since venturing out to the program's first Women's College World Series to conclude the 2005 campaign, the Big Orange softball squad has been featured on television 59 times with 40 of those having been broadcast via either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.

The Lady Vols are scheduled to open their 2011 season versus Michigan State at 11 a.m. ET on Feb. 12th, at the Stetson Leadoff Classic in DeLand, Fla. During their stay at the event, the Orange and White will battle MSU twice and face both Boston College and home-standing Stetson.
