KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 16 Tennessee Lady Vol softball team will be featured on television a total of seven times during the 2010 season, the Southeastern Conference announced on Wednesday. In addition a potential of 31 regular-season contests could be broadcast locally on WNML "The Sports Animal" (AM 990, FM 99.1 and 99.3) with the "Voice of the Lady Vols" Mickey Dearstone expected to handle the play-by-play duties. Some radio broadcasts are still tentative because of postseason basketball tournament conflicts.

The Big Orange's seven televised games are part of the SEC's 2010 softball television schedule, the first under a new 15-year contract with the ESPN family of networks. In all ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS), Fox Sports Net and FOX Sports South (FSN2) will disseminate 30 league softball games during the season, up from just five match-ups during the 2009 campaign. Also, for the first time in league history, ESPN/ESPNU will broadcast every game during the annual SEC Tournament.

Four of the Lady Vol televised contests will take place within the friendly confines of Lee Softball Stadium. UT will make its television debut on March 20th in a Saturday doubleheader against No. 7 Georgia as CSS will broadcast both match-ups live. The Orange & White's next TV date will come at Auburn where Sunday's series finale (April 11) will be shown via SportSouth. During the final two weekends of the regular season Tennessee might as well call ESPN home. The second game of UT's three-contest set against No. 2 Alabama on May 1 will be broadcast live at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, while the series finale on May 2 will be distributed via ESPNU at 4 p.m. ET. Finally, the Lady Vols will play host to No. 13 LSU over May 8-9 with the series opener set for a noon Saturday start time on ESPN. The final game of the set with the Bayou Bengals will be contested on May 9, at 2 p.m. on ESPNU.

Since venturing out to its first Women's College World Series at the end of the 2005 campaign, the Tennessee Lady Vol softball team has been featured on television a staggering 45 times with 29 of those having been via the ESPN family of networks.
