Feb. 28, 2011

By Brian Davis, Assistant Media Relations Director

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - With three additional dates added via an institutional package with SportSouth, the No. 8 Tennessee Lady Vol softball team is now slated to appear on television 10 times during the 2011 regular season.

The trio of SportSouth broadcasts will air from the friendly confines of Lee Softball Stadium, beginning on March 26 with a single match-up against South Carolina at 12:30 p.m. ET. The other two televised contests occur during UT's series with Mississippi State, facing the Bulldogs on the tube on April 21 at 7 p.m. ET and on April 22 at 6 p.m. ET.

Since venturing out to the program's first Women's College World Series to conclude the 2005 campaign, the Big Orange softball squad has been featured on television 59 times with 40 of those having been broadcast via either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.

Off to a sterling 14-2 start to the 2011 campaign, the Big Orange returns to action this weekend by hosting the Tennessee Classic over March 4-6. UT gets its weekend action started on Thurs., March 3, however, by welcoming in Evansville for a single contest at 6 p.m. ET.
