BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - For the third consecutive week a member of the No. 20 Tennessee Lady Vol softball team (13-4) has been rewarded for her outstanding efforts by the league office. Freshman pitcher Ivy Renfroe has been chosen as the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week for her impressive contributions in helping lead UT to a perfect 5-0 record and the Tennessee Classic title over March 5-7.

The Humboldt, Tenn., native joins rookie teammate Raven Chavanne as Lady Vol conference honorees during the 2010 campaign's first four weeks. Chavanne has already been tabbed this season as both the SEC Player of the Week (Feb. 22) and SEC Freshman of the Week (March 1).

Renfroe posted the finest weekend of her brief collegiate career during the recent Tennessee Classic. The 5-10 righthander fired 17.1 frames over four appearances while posting a miniscule 0.81 ERA and 21 strikeouts. Included in her efforts were a six-inning start against a powerful No. 13 Texas squad that entered the match-up against the Lady Vols at 16-2 overall and having blasted more than 30 home runs. Renfroe limited the Longhorns to just two runs on five hits with five strikeouts in helping guide UT to an important 3-2 victory. She nearly recorded her first career complete-game shutout on Sunday against Ohio, coming up just one-third of an inning short in a 5-1 triumph over the Bobcats. She tossed 6.2 frames versus OU, allowed six hits and no earned runs while posting a career-high nine K's. Renfroe also threw during both victories over Illinois State, finishing Sunday's 8-4 win by permitting one hit and punching out three during a seventh-inning relief stint.

No. 20 Tennessee next ventures to Starkville, Miss., to christen SEC action in a mid-week league series against the Mississippi State Bulldogs (13-6). The three-contest set will be played over March 9-10 at MSU Softball Field with Tuesday's opening doubleheader set to begin at 5 p.m. ET.
