KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The No. 8/8 Tennessee softball team has added a non-conference road game against No. 21/21 Kentucky to its 2013 schedule. The Lady Vols and the Wildcats will play at 5 p.m. on Friday, March, 29, at the UK Softball Complex in Lexington, Ky.
Admission to the game will be free of charge due to the continued construction of the new UK Softball Complex.
The game will not count towards either team's SEC record. Tennessee leads the all-time series between the teams, 34-12, and UT took two out of three in last year's season series in Knoxville.
This week, Tennessee (24-6, 3-3 SEC) hosts No. 5/4 Texas A&M for a three-game series from Friday through Sunday. The Lady Vols will honor legend Monica Abbott (2004-07) with a jersey retirement ceremony prior to Saturday's game. A limited number of tickets remain for all three games on UTTix.com. Tennessee will host Eastern Kentucky on March 27 before heading up to Lexington to face UK.
Kentucky (20-8, 2-4 SEC) hosts Mississippi State for a three game series this Friday through Sunday. The Wildcats will play midweek road games at Western Kentucky (March 26) and Lipscomb (March 27) before next Friday's matchup.
