KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Make it two consecutive weeks with league accolades for Tennessee Lady Vol freshman pitcher Ellen Renfroe as the 6-0 right hander was tabbed as the Southeastern Conference's Softball Pitcher of the Week for March 28 according to a Monday release from the SEC office.

The Lady Vol softball squad boasts four league honorees over the first seven weeks of the 2011 campaign. Renfroe was also chosen as the SEC Freshman of the Week on March 21, while sophomore outfielders Raven Chavanne and Kat Dotson previously reaped nods as the SEC Player of the Week on Feb. 14 and March 7, respectively.

The Jackson, Tenn., native Renfroe posted a 2-0 record in the circle over four appearances last week with a 1.05 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 20 innings of work. Included was an impressive complete-game, two-hit victory over No. 1 Alabama with seven K's as the Big Orange handed the Crimson Tide its first conference defeat of the season, 4-1. Renfroe followed up that performance by tossing a career-high eight innings as UT outlasted South Carolina during the two teams' series opener, 4-2 (8 inn.). Her performance during that extra-inning win over the Gamecocks (March 25) marked her third consecutive complete game triumph after previously topping Iowa on March 18 and top-ranked `Bama on March 22. The rookie standout already owns pitching victories this season over No. 1 Alabama as well as the defending national champions, then-No. 2 UCLA (7-1 on February 26).

The Big Orange returns to action on Tuesday, March 29, in Clarksville, Tenn., for a single contest at 6 p.m. ET versus Austin Peay. Live stats will be provided via Gametracker through the Gameday Central page at Check both and for the most up-to-date information on Tennessee softball.
