KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee softball legend Lauren Gibson will do a Twitter takeover of the NCAA Softball account on Sunday, April 13, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. ET.
Gibson, a three-time NFCA First-Team All-American and the 2013 SEC Player of the Year, will be running the @NCAASoftball twitter account on Sunday, with a 30-minute Q&A session starting at 1 p.m. Fans should use the hashtag "#AskLauren" to ask Gibson questions during this period. Gibson will provide tweets and comments about the game between No. 4 Tennessee and No. 21 Texas A&M, which will be televised at 1 p.m. ET on ESPNU (#LaurenTakeover). Cara Capuano is the play-by-play announcer for that game with Cheri Kempf providing analysis.
Gibson starred at Tennessee from 2010 to 2013 and helped lead Tennessee to three Women's College World Series appearances as the Lady Vols power-hitting second baseman. She finished her illustrious Tennessee career as one of the most dominant hitters in program history. Gibson hit .361 for her career, playing in 249 games with 242 starts. She amassed 245 hits over 679 at-bats with 46 home runs, 42 doubles, six triples, 188 runs scored, 216 RBIs, 137 walks, 46 stolen bases, a .644 slugging percentage and a .484 on-base percentage.
Gibson ranks in the top 10 of numerous Tennessee career categories, including runs (188, fifth), double (42, eighth), home runs (46, second), grand slams (two, tied for third), multi-run home runs (26, second), RBIs (216, third), stolen bases (46, 10th), walks (137, third), times hit by a pitch (30, tied for third), total bases (437, fourth), slugging percentage (.644, third) and on-base percentage (.484, third). As a senior in 2013, she set the UT single-season home run record with 19 blasts.
