  • The Lady Vols (51-10, 16-6 SEC) finished second in the SEC in the regular season and advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament. UT defeated Alabama in two games in the Knoxville Super Regional to punch its sixth ticket in the last nine years to the WCWS.

  • Tennessee played two very hard-fought games against defending national champion Alabama in the Super Regionals to punch its ticket to Oklahoma City. Sophomores Hannah Akamine and Cheyanne Tarango combined for three RBIs to lift UT to a 3-2 Game 1 win. The Lady Vols rallied back from a three-run deficit for a 5-3 Game 2 win.
  • Raven Chavanne was a Top 3 Finalist for USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Year. She is just the third Lady Vol to make it to the Top 3, joining Monica Abbott (who won in 2007) and Tonya Callahan (2008). Chavanne ranks eighth in the nation with a .461 batting average and a 1.17 runs scored per game average. She also is 15th in the country in stolen bases per game with a 0.67 average (39-for-40). Chavanne was also a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award.
  • Chavanne was named Capital One Academic All-American of the Year. Madison Shipman and Ellen Renfroe were named to the Capital One Academic All-America second team.
  • Lauren Gibson was named the SEC Player of the year after outstanding play in conference games. She was also a Top 10 Finalist for USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Year. On the year, Gibson is batting .408 (51st in the nation) with 18 home runs (t-16th) and 67 RBIs (1.12 average is 15th in nation). Her .822 slugging percentage ranks 16th in the nation.
  • Chavanne, Gibson, Kat Dotson and Shipman earned NFCA All-Southeast Region first team honors. Ellen Renfroe was named to the All-Southeast Region second team.
  • Chavanne, Shipman and Ellen Renfroe were named to the Capital One Academic All-District 3 First Team.
  • Chavanne, Gibson, Kat Dotson and Madison Shipman earned first Team All-SEC and SEC All-Defensive Team honors.
  • UT has three players with double-digit home runs. Gibson has 18 and Madison Shipman and Cheyanne Tarango each have 10 hme runs.
  • Ivy Renfroe earned two wins in the Super Regionals, improving to 21-4 on the season. She now has three 20-win seasons in her stories UT career.
  • Chavanne leads all active players in the nation with 37 career hits in NCAA Tournament play.
  • Ivy Renfroe continues to be one of the most dominant NCAA Tournament pitchers. With two shutout wins last week, she is now 17-4 all-time in NCAA Tournament play with a 1.54 ERA and 125 strikeouts over 122.2 innings.


  • The Longhorns (50-9, 14-4 Big 12) went 3-0 in the Austin Regional and 2-0 in the Austin Super Regional to advance to the WCWS. Texas finished second in the Big 12 with a 14-4 conference record.

  • In the circle, Blaire Luna has established herself as one of the nation's elite pitchers with a 31-6 record, a 1.30 ERA and 396 strikeouts in 237.2 innings. Kim Bruins is a strong No. 2 pitcher with a 1.78 ERA and a 10-0 record. Bruins has 70 strikeouts in 78.2 innings.
