The Lady Vols flew to Oklahoma City on Tuesday, May 28, and took batting practice at Oklahoma City University.
One of the most exciting days of the Women's College World Series experience is the media day before play starts. On Wednesday, the Tennessee softball team interacted with ESPN production crews and media members and took to the field at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium for practice.
Tennessee opened play in its sixth trip to the Women's College World Series on Thursday defeating Florida, 9-2, in Game 2. Kat Dotson was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Melissa Brown drove in two runs to back a strong outing by Ellen Renfroe.
Severe weather and tornadoes in Oklahoma City canceled play on Friday. The teams in the downtown Sheraton evacuated to the basement and an adjacent underground parking garage during the during a tornado emergency in Oklahoma City.
WCWS play resumed on Saturday and Tennessee took a 1-0 win over Washington. Ellen Renfroe fanned 10 over seven shutout frames, Tory Lewis had a walk-off RBI single to score Whitney Hammond, whose expert base running put UT's winning run on third.
For the second time in program history, Tennessee punched its ticket to the WCWS Championship Series, defeating Texas, 2-1. Ivy Renfroe tossed 4.2 strong innings, Lauren Gibson hit a first-inning homer and Lexi Overstreet drew a bases-loaded walk.
Game 1 of the Championship Series was one for the ages as the nation became enthralled with a 12-inning pitcher's duel between UT's Ellen Renfroe and Oklahoma's Keilani Ricketts. The Sooners came away with a 5-3 win in the longest game in UT history. Madison Shipman hit a three-run homer and Renfroe fanned 13 batters in one of the most courageous performances of her career.
Tennessee's amazing 2013 season came to a close on Tuesday as Oklahoma took the national title with a 4-0 win in Game 2. Lauren Gibson, Ellen Renfroe and Madison Shipman were named to the WCWS All-Tournament Team for their efforts over the course of the weekend.

The Lady Vols were welcomed home with a warm reception at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. The Vol Nation was united as one while pulling for the Tennessee softball team during its incredible run at the Women's College World Series.
