OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla- Team USA captured the World Cup of Softball VII with a 3-0 win over Australia on Monday night in Oklahoma City. The Eagles were a perfect 6-0 in the event. Lady Vol Lauren Gibson entered the game late and was on the field for the game's conclusion.

Samantha Fischer had two extra base hits to key the USA win. She doubled in the first and sixth innings. The Australia National Team couldn't get anything going as long as Jackie Traina was on the mound. The Australia National Team managed just one hit off of Traina, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during her four innings of work.

Vanessa Anne Stokes was effective even in defeat, mowing down six the United States National Team batters and allowing two runs.

Gibson entered as a runner in the sixth and finished the game at second base. She hit .455 in the World Cup with five hits in 11 at-bats while driving in two runs.
