Gibson Drives In 2; USA 5, Chinese Taipei 1

HAARLEM, Netherlands -- Lauren Gibson hit a two-run double, Raven Chavanne had a single and a walk and the USA Softball Women's National Team defeated Chinese Taipei, 5-1, on Sunday in the ISF XIV World Championship.

Team USA is now 3-0 in the tournament's round-robin play and will next face Great Britain on Monday at 9 a.m. ET.

The U.S. plated three runs in the first inning and two in the third while Chinese Taipei scored its lone run in the second.

With two outs, a 1-0 lead and runners on the corners, Gibson rocketed a double to center field, plating Sam Fischer and Valerie Arioto and extending the Americans' first-inning advantage to 3-0.

After Monday's game against Great Britain, Team USA plays Australia on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. ET, the Dominican Republic on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. ET and Italy on Thursday at 8 a.m. ET. The playoff round of the ISF World Championships runs Aug. 22-24.
