The City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation Division is hosting a free youth baseball and softball clinic on Saturday, Aug. 30, from 9 a.m. until noon at Caswell Park on 620 Winona Street. Lady Vols softball co-head coaches Ralph and Karen Weekly and the 2009 Lady Volunteers will provide instruction at the clinic, as will representatives from the Volunteers baseball program.
Children ages 6-12 will have the opportunity to work on baseball and softball fundamentals as they are instructed by UT coaches and student-athletes. Volunteers baseball head coach Todd Raleigh is also taking part in the free clinic.
"We've witnessed the positive impact of athletics on a child's life time and time again," senior director of the city's Community and Neighborhood Services Department Sam Anderson said. "We wanted to give a free camp so that children of all means would have the opportunity to participate. We applaud the University of Tennessee for getting on board with this effort."
Registration forms should be turned in on the day of the clinic. For more information on the event, please click HERE or call (865) 215-1418.
