KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee co-head coaches Ralph and Karen Weekly announced Friday that the softball team would officially join a friendly fund-raising competition against the Volunteer Baseball squad to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in conjunction with the "Light the Night Walk" at Knoxville's Volunteer Landing on Thursday, October 2.

"We know that the 'Light the Night Walk' means a great deal personally to Coach Raleigh and the members of his baseball team, so we are honored to have been challenged to a friendly competition in raising money for what we know is such a worthy cause," Lady Vol Co-Head Coach Karen Weekly said. "With cancer affecting so many families on a daily basis including many close to us, we desperately hope that all Lady Vol fans, especially the softball fans that have always shown our team such incredible support, visit our donation page to assist us in our efforts to raise money to help in finding a cure."
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds lifesaving cancer research that has contributed to major advances in the treatment of blood cancers and many other types of cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and stem cell transplants, that have helped patients live better, longer lives. New targeted therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal tissue are providing drugs and procedures that are improving the quality of life.
