KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee softball team is partnering with the Tennessee chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for the 12th annual Light The Night Walk on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. at Circle Park on the University of Tennessee campus.

Light The Night is a unique evening fundraising walk to bring help and hope to those affected by blood cancers. Walkers carry illuminated balloons - red for supporters, white for survivors and gold for memory - as they light the path to a cure for cancer.

For the second consecutive year, Tennessee men's basketball head coach Cuonzo Martin and UT Director of Broadcasting Bob Kesling are serving as honorary co-chairs and Executive Committee members and partners in the Tennessee Light The Night Walk.

The Tennessee softball team will be walking with Averi Ramsey, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 2013 Girl of the Year for Knoxville and special member of the UT softball family. Last spring, the players and coaches welcomed Averi as a member of the team with a special "draft party" at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

Several Tennessee athletic teams will be taking part in this great cause.

Event festivities will start in Circle Park and the 1.3-mile walk route begins at the Torchbearer stature and goes through the Tennessee campus. The walk takes approximately one hour to complete and will take place, rain or shine. The non-competitive route starts from Circle Park and goes down Volunteer Blvd., through the pedestrian mall on Andy Holt Avenue, down UT Drive and back up Volunteer Blvd to end back at Circle Park. There will also be a fireworks show as participants walk down UT Drive. Fans can make donations directly to the Tennessee softball team's fundraising page by CLICKING HERE.

Registration and festivities begin at 6 p.m. There will be live music by The Dale Ann Bradley Band and DJ Ray and Bob Kesling will serve as the evening's emcee.

There will be free parking in the G10 parking garage, accessible either from Neyland Drive or Phillip Fulmer Way.
