KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee softball team will welcome back several of its past stars as the Lady Vols host their annual Alumnae Game on Friday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. ET.
The current Tennessee team will take on a team comprised of alumnae at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. Admission to the game is free of charge.
Friday's game will be a wonderful welcome home for many Lady Vol legends and fan favorites, but it will also be a tough test for the current team. The alumnae team will feature many former players who played in Tennessee's six Women's College World Series appearances over the past nine years. Some of the alums expected to play include: Ashley Andrews, Melissa Brown, Katherine Card, Raven Chavanne, Kat Dotson, Sarah Fekete Bailey, Morgan Fowler, Allison Fulmer, Lauren Gibson, Kelly Grieve, Lillian Hammond, Whitney Hammond, Cat Hosfield, Tiffany Huff, Stephanie Humphrey Sayne, Nicole Kajitani, Danielle Pieroni, Ivy Renfroe and Caitlin Ryan.
Fans will get a chance to see the 2013 senior class of Brown, Chavanne, Dotson, Gibson, Hammond and Ivy Renfroe take the field at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium one more time as part of the alumnae team.
The current Lady Vols have enjoyed a strong fall season to date, going 8-0 in their October exhibition games. While UT rested veterans such as Madison Shipman and Melissa Davin, sophomores Rainey Gaffin and Lexi Overstreet and newcomers Megan Geer, Taylor Koenig and Annie Aldrete gave fans a preview of a powerful 2014 lineup as they combined for several extra-base hits and RBIs. Tennessee's pitching was strong as ace Ellen Renfroe looked to be in WCWS form, throwing 25 shutout innings in four outings.
Fans of UT softball will be in for a treat as Lady Vols old and new square off in an exciting conclusion of fall softball in Tennessee.
