Softball Takes On "The OKC Challenge"

Nov. 26, 2012

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -Just before Thanksgiving break, the Tennessee softball team hit the weight room to close out its fall strength & conditioning training with a three-day gauntlet designed by assistant director of strength & conditioning Holly Frantz.

Before the Lady Vols could enjoy Turkey Day, they had to conquer "The Oklahoma City Challenge."

Every year, the Tennessee softball team's goal is to make a postseason run to the College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla. But before the first pitch is thrown, the Lady Vols must put in the hard work in the weight room to prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.

Testing their speed, endurance, flexibility and strength before the holiday, Frantz divided the team into four squads of five. The scoring events included the 150-yard shuttle, chin-ups, 1:00 sit-ups, vertical jump, flexibility, lat pull-downs, hip press and one mystery event at the very end.

Check out the above video to see how the team did and which Lady Vols were victorious in "The Oklahoma City Challenge!"
