KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Just like the first day of the competition, three University of Tennessee Lady Vol swimmers notched season-best times to rise up the national lists at the Bulldog Last Chance Meet held at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.

The senior duo of Kirstyn Colonias and Samara Gelb were superb in the 200y breast, each swimming times that rank among the top 10 fastest in Lady Vol history.

Colonias only competed in the event prelims, touching in with a career-best readout at 2:10.68, which is good for third on the UT performance list. Prior to Sunday, her season-best time was 2:12.04, with her career-best readout of 2:11.27 coming in the prelims of last season's Last Chance Meet.

Gelb finished runner-up in the event with a mark of 2:12.30, however, her fastest time of the season came in prelims, where she recorded a clocking of 2:11.68. Her previous-best time of 2:12.51 came at the league championships held in Knoxville last week. She now ranks seventh on the Lady Vol performers list after her prelim time.

After recording a `B' cut in the 200y fly at the 2012 Southeastern Conference Championships, sophomore Kennedy Higdon improved upon her season-best time Sunday. Higdon won the consolation final in 1:59.84, .80 seconds faster than a week ago.

Brooke Watson qualified for the championship final in the 200y fly, grabbing sixth in 2:00.93. Marina Ribi also swam in the consolation final with Higdon, as her time of 2:01.89 was good for 11th.

Freshman Molly Loftus shaved 17 seconds off her previous best 1,650y free time at the meet, but is still shy of achieving a B-cut time after a readout of 17:22.18.

The 2012 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be hosted by Auburn University and will take place over March 15-17 in Auburn, Ala.

The Orange and White divers head to Auburn March 8-10 for the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships, where they will look to punch their ticket to the national meet.
