Tennessee senior Jenny Connolly overcame a stomach virus Saturday to lift the Lady Vols to two victories over Indiana and Kentucky at UT's Jones Aquatic Center.

The Lady Vols topped Indiana 174-126 while beating Kentucky 227-73.

Connolly came down with a bug towards the end of the week, but told Tennessee head coach Matt Kredich she wanted to swim about an hour before Saturday's double-dual meet.

"It hurts to swim, but seeing the importance of this meet, I felt the need to swim anyway, and it worked out well," Connolly said. "Last year I had surgery and missed the first couple of meets. It was really hard to watch my team compete without me and I did not want to do that again. I felt the need to contribute with my team."

The West Lafeyette, Ind., native got the Lady Vols started off right, swimming the first leg of the winning 200 medley relay. Connolly, along with Kelsey Floyd, Molly Hannis and Caroline Simmons, swam to a first-place time of one minute 40.81 seconds.

Connolly also claimed a victory in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.41 seconds.

But Connolly received plenty of support from her teammates. Floyd, Hannis and Lindsay Gendron each won two events for the Lady Vols.

Floyd won the 200 fly in one minute 58.68 seconds and also took first place in the 100 fly in 54.89 seconds.

In her first major collegiate meet, Hannis broke onto the scene with wins in the 100 breaststroke, in one minute 1.92 seconds, and the 200 breaststroke in two minutes 15.50 seconds.

"I thought Molly Hannis was incredible today," Kredich said. "We've seen flashes of what she did today in practice but this is the first big meet she's competed in. Lindsay Gendron and Kelsey Floyd did some really tough doubles today. We view that as really good training. Those were really good learning experiences."

Gendron won the 1000 free in nine minutes 53.25 seconds and the 200 I.M. in two minutes 2.30 seconds.

The Lady Vols move to 3-0 (1-0 SEC) on the year before hitting the road to face Louisville on Oct. 27.
